I need some advice on the feasibility and best route to drive from Rapid City to Gardiner over a 2-day period and are interested in doing the scenic byways of SD (eg. Needles, Wildlife loop), do a quick stop at Devils Tower, drive the Beartooth Hwy if possible, and finally end up in Gardiner. Some questions:
1. Most important - Is this possible to do in 2-days? I'm trying to save my time for YS and GT Nat'l Parks
3. I am clear on getting to Devil's Twr but after that there are many options for getting to Gardiner. Any advice?
4. Is last week of Sept. too late for Beartooth Hwy ? How are the driving conditions on Beartooth?
We are 2 adults, no kids, so driving long days are okay. Also, as background, we are most interested in the natural scenery of the region. We also have some interest in seeing/experiencing the 'Wild West" (Rodeo, Indian History, etc)
Sorry for the long note, and MANY THANKS in advance for your advice
