Sounds good for the tourists
I drove over Ebbitts Pass (hwy 4) on Thursday, just a few hours after it opened. It is beautiful in the high country, but I was surprised at the lack of snow at the over 8,000 ft. elevation. Tioga Pass will be the that last to open, and it should not take them long to clear the road after what I saw on Thursday.
That does not sound promising for waterfall viewing - even in early July.... :(
I flew to Denver on Tuesday and thought there was very little snow visible in the Sierra.
Poster # 2 True not great for the waterfalls but is good for the May/June vacationers wanting to cross the mountains.
And even worse for forest fires and the animals later in the summer.
Bad news, really.
