About to reopen? Pretty please....

Please, please let Yosemite reopen so we can enjoy it as part of our trip down the west coast.

Fingers crossed

You would think that Delaware North Corporation would pitch in some money to get the park re-opened, because every day that it is closed they are losing huge amounts of money that would have been spent at the hotels, restaurants, tours and activities that they manage.

You'll be waiting awhile, most likely. Be aware that Yosemite is patrolled so don't plan on any barricade jumping.

There's a decent chance this will be over tonight. Hopefully so. Don't know how long the delay would be reopening if so, but I wouldn't imagine too long since Yosemite is such a cash cow.

Yes, with the debt ceiling deadline upon us, one side or the other is going to have to blink. Hopefully this gets resolved sooner than later.

I was one of the victims of the latest round of censorship, so I apologize to you that suggestions I thought were helpful got tossed; some days it just doesn't pay to try to be helpful. Here is what I was trying to tell you.

If you will be in California for another week or two and your itinerary includes southern California still to come, you might consider the Grand Canyon. The state of Arizona is paying the Feds to keep this National Park open. The state of Utah is also paying (and their legislature is likely to extend the funds) to keep open Zion, Bryce Canyon, and half a dozen other National Park System areas treasured by residents and visitors alike.

All of these parks are unique and magnificent places, and no one could objectively say any one of them is more beautiful than the others. It's true that none of these places is Yosemite, and you have your heart set on Yosemite. You've made a very long trip to see it and we all hope you can.
