camping at Lake Tenaya

Does anyone know if there is still a campground at Lake Tenaya at Yosemite? We can't seem to find out on the website. Thanks. Planning to go mid-September.

Nope. No campground at Tenaya Lake.

There are two articles about camping that are linked to the Top Questions on the right side of the page. You can get a reservable campsite at Tuolumne Meadows to the east or a First Come First Served campsite at Porcupine Flat to the west of Tenaya Lake.

Good to know. Thank you for your response. We'll look into the park you mentioned.

Do you know of any reasonably priced hotels within 10 miles of the park?

Hi

All of the lodging options both inside the Park (including private property) and outside the Park are collected into a Top Question. It's the first one on the list. Pay attention to the drive times to various regions. For example, if you want to be closest to Yosemite Valley, El Portal is a good town. If you want to be closest to Tuolumne Meadows, Lee Vining is a good town.

The walk-in campground at Tenaya was closed and obliterated some years ago.

In addition to the campgrounds inside the park, there are forest-service campgrounds just outside the east entrance, near Tioga Pass. One of these (Sawmill? not sure of the name) has walk-in sites if that is what you are seeking.

There is also a log cabin resort there, Tioga Pass Resort. Getting reservations there is a challenge, but I have friends who have managed it.

Are you thinking of the campground at Tioga Lake, Enzian? I think that one is no more than a 15 minute walk from the east entrance to the park, and it's in a spectacular area.

I would have to look at a map. I don't think it is on the lake. According to friends who recommend it, the campsite is several hundred yards down a path, away from the car. that is what makes it a "walk in" site.
