Are you reallythinking of spending 12 nights in Yosemite?

I believe there is a maximum of 7 nights that can be spent in a campground in the park.

Where are you arriving to Yosemite from and where will you be going afterward?

Hi

Are you looking for ideas for a few days? You probably aren't staying in Yosemite NP for the entire two weeks.

Tuolumne Meadows is a good idea for early September. The amenities begin closing in the latter half of the month. Crane Flat is a good location between the Valley & Tuolumne Meadows. Try to get a site in Yosemite Valley if you want to use the free shuttle to get around the Valley. The Wawona Campground is closest to Mariposa Grove.

There are lots of tips in the Top Questions & the Trip Ideas. In particular, look at the articles about "Where should we camp?" and about Weekend or Longer Itineraries. And read the relevant Trip Reports.

=============

Adding the info about campground limitations

"There is a 30-night camping limit within Yosemite National Park in a calendar year; however, May 1 - September 15, the camping limit in Yosemite is 14 nights, and only seven of those nights can be in Yosemite Valley or Wawona." nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/campregs.htm

And the map: nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/campground.htm

Be sure you have your campsite booked ahead of time. There are NO hookups anywhere inside Yosemite NP.

Redwood NP is a great place to visit in September, and a trip that combined both parks would give you a lot of variety. You'd have to allow two days in between the two. Perhaps also consider driving north along Highway 1 from San Francisco to Eureka. Very scenic!
