Traveling w/tweens to Bryce & Zion for 7 days in Aug.

Planning trip to Byce & Zion Aug 24-31st with 2 tweens. Looking for for active vacation. Is there a suggested location/3 star hotel you suggest? Also, is 7 nights too long of a visit to this area?

You might want to add Page AZ as its another great spot for activity. Other wise, give Zion a little extra time. It generally offers more.

Springdale is the place to stay for Zion. There are a lot of good places to stay in Springdale that do not fall in the cookie cutter category. Examples are Desert Pearl, Cable Mountain, Cliffrose, Driftwood, Flanigans, majestic View. Here is a good resource for what is in the area www.zionpark.com

At Bryce, the better places location wise include the lodge in the park, then Rubys Inn, BW Grand, and Bryce View Lodge in Bryce canyon City. www.brycecanyoncountry.com

Page is a good choice to visit for the day www.visitpagearizona.com , as is the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. These four distinct destinations can fill up Seven days with you maybe wanting more.

In Zion, besides exploring the park, maybe try a day of canyoneering from Zion mountain School or Zion Rock guides.

In Bryce, try the half day under the rim horse/mule ride by www.canyonrides.com Also an interesting activity will be the evening rodeo if you are there later week, and maybe an ATV trail ride from Ruby's Inn or Bryce Wildlife Adventures.

At Zion, the kids would enjoy the hike in the water in the Narrows or the innertube ride on the Virgin River just outside the park.

At Page, the raft trip is available.

Or there is a wakeboard park at Antelope Point Marina.

Lower Antelope Canyon is accessed by ladders, probably more fun for a kid than the flat walk in upper Antelope.
