Yala & Malaria?

Hi

I've got 10 days in Sri Lanka in total, couple of days in Dickwella on the South coast and then rest at Yala before going back to the UK. I've had such mixed reports about the Malaria risk, any advice?

Thanks

Better safe than sorry. According to the M-map which we use both Yala and Udu Walawe DO have (light) malaria risks, so either take the tablets or take heavy other measures...

All the best,

Yes erik is correct... better to take precautions.. If you stay in a reputed hotel like yala village their room are free of mosquitos.

Hi Scorpio

We also took the super mozzie spray with deet when we were in S.L. and only used it once, can't remember where. Mind you, this was October & November, so things change with the seasons.

Didn't see any mozzies in Yala, but did see 3 leopards one day and a wild elephant came into the grounds of the hotel or a drink a couple of times, which was a great thrill.

Enjoy your trip. It's a wonderful country.
