Ferry from Bodo to Moskenes Sept 2014 ?

I am going to Lofoten during 10 Sept 2014 - 28 Sept 2014(I am from Hong Kong). I have some questions?

1. (I am planing to thu the Oslo--> Bodo-->Moskenes) is it a good route to Lofoten during Sept 2014? or any other good choice?

2. Once I arrive Bodo airport, how can I go to the Bodo--Monskenes Pier? Is it faraway from the airport? if take bus, which route? how can I get the info?

3. Once I arrive Bodo airport (if too late to catch the ferry), how can I find the accommodation?

4. Where Can I buy the ferry ticket? Do I need to book in advance? Or but it on broad?

5. Some people say, it is rather rent the car at Moskenes than Bodo, It can save the Car tranportation fee, Is it easy to rent a car at Moskenes near by the ferry pier? Is it more expensive than rent a car at Bodo? (I am going to still at Lofoten 18 days) which one is better for me? which car rental companies is your recommond?

6. where can I look for the accommodation in Lofoten island?

7. Is it possible to see the Northern lighting during Sept? at lofoten what locations are the best view to see the Northern lighting?

Thanks your time and patient to ask my questions.

1) Oslo-Bodø-Moskenes is a good itinerary choice.

2) The ferry dock is only about 2km from the airport, take a taxi.

3) http://booking.visitbodo.com/en/accommodation . I can recommend Bodø Hostel.

4) No need to book in advance if travelling as a foot passenger, but you should if you bring a car.

5) You need to do the research yourself. The cost of taking the car on the Bodø-Moskenes ferry will be insignificant in the big picture.

1: That`s the way you are flying! Please check http://norwegian.com or http://flysas.no

2: Bodø airport are very close to the city centre, so you can walk, take a bus or taxi to the ferry.

3. Search "hotell Bodø" on Google.

4. You can buy it when you walk / drive onboard.

5. Everything depends if you will drive back to Bodø or not. Leaving the car at another destination than the pickup are very expensive!

6. Please check http://www.lofoten.info

7. I think September are one of the most beautiful time for chase the Northern lights! The best location is where the sky are clear..;)

And 8: When you are planning to stay so many days and nights there, you should include also a visit Vesterålen and Senja too, and drive via Hamarøy and Steigen back south to Bodø.

If you are staying in Lofoten for a week or more and you will have a car the cheapest option for accommodation is to rent an ordinary house (though there will nothing ordinary about the surroundings).

There is a good selection with the rental agency Novasol, and especially with Dancenter. You will also find options in Vesteralen. Low season rates and long stay discounts will apply with your dates. The island of Vestvagoy is a good central base for day trips to all parts of Lofoten.

Hello,

I'm trying to make a reservation for the Ferry Bodo-Moskenes for two passengers in September 2014 but I got this message:

No reservation is for passengers without vehicles. Groups of over 12 passengers can book through our call center by phone 90820700.

That means I only can go by ferry if I'm going with a vehicle? Or that passengers don't have to book it on advance?

Thanks for your help.

Reply #6 can be misunderstood. What GG tries to say is, no, of course you can travel with the ferry as a foot passenger, and yes, there is no advance booking for foot passengers because there will always be space.
