Bike Hire - Riu Atlantico

We will be staying at the Riu Atlantico at the end of September. Can anyone advise where we can hire bikes for a day?

Also, has anyone ridden into Ayamonte by bike? If so, did you use the main road, seafront or the inland disused railway path and how long did the ride take?

Thee is a bike hire place just opened, I understand, next to

the RIU in the Marina shopping centre. Try www.luzbikes.com for more information or:

Contact details are info@LuzBikes.com, Tel. (+34) 650493008.

Last year there was also another small shop that had a few bikes .

Cycling is ok mainly on dedicated cycle paths if you cycle from punta moral Marina by the RIU along the beach promenade to Isla canela and than turn right up to the golf course. This is longer than the direct road (being two sides of a triangle) from the Marina at punta moral but a lot nicer. The track runs out on the edge of Ayamonte and the traffic can be a bit fierce in town and you will need a lock (or two) if you go into town

The Hotel riu Atlantico has it´s own bikes but they are in a terrible state (damaged, brakes don´t work, etc.) You are better off to stroll down to the commercial center (where the bars and restaurants are) And get a bike at the Luz Bikes shop. The guy who runs it speaks good English too.

Cycling is great around Isla Canela and Ayamonte can be reached easily through a cyclepath. From the Hotel it´s about 6 miles to get to Ayamonte.
