Las Casistas to BioIsland Tour

Hi,

We are going for our first time to PR in 2 weeks. We are staying at Las Casistas and are wanting to do the BioIsland tour. Is it possible to walk to where the boat launches or do you need to take a taxi? Also, any other suggestions or recommendations regarding our trip would be greatly appreciated (things to do places to see etc...). We are only there for 4 days.

Thanks.

Yes, there is a staging area out side the gate by the Marina. Check with one of the companies. Don't know why it would be called BioIsland it a Bay.

Thank you. Did you enjoy your stay there? Any recommendations you can give about the resort and/or area?

Bioisland tours is a particular company that runs tours to the Bio-bay. They use electric boats instead of kayaks. The staging area is in Las Croabas along with all the other tours of the bay, there are several restaurants/bars there too. If you are staying at the Conquistador and you take the funicular down to the bottom you can walk to the left (as you face the water) past the dive shop and exit the hotel property. Just follow the road about a quarter to a half mile and you will come into Las Croabas park. I can't say whether the walk is safe at night or not, someone more familiar with the area would have to say so. Las Corabas is lively at night with both tourists and locals. All of the bio-bay tours stage there.

Irmo is correct in directions, as that is what we did from the rooms at El Con itself. Croabas park area is safe and lively as described. The 1/4 mile section from the Con gates to Croabas park is safe for day walking by indivduals, but dark and unlit at night- should be OK for groups of 4 or more adults... Seven seas beach is adjacent to the biobay and pretty nice.

If you take the funicular down to the Marina you can walk to where the tours go out to the Bio Bay. Try not to book through the hotel as you will pay twice as much. Book way in advance as they stay busy in season.

The walk down to the park is safe

, really nice local people at the park and the last thing they want is for someone or something to harm you.

That area is money to the restaurants, bars and operators so they will keep it safe.
