We are travelling the South Island from 12th October for 16 days, and have discovered that there is "Wanakafest" on 18th to 21st, obviously in Wanaka :)
Is this a regular festival and if so, can anyone give us an indication of what type of activities there are, and is it lots of fun/interesting etc to visit, or is it more set up for families with children etc etc?
We will most likely be in the general area then, and are wondering whether to avoid or embrace it. However, our main (but not only) interests are scenery and exploring and don't want to waste valuable time that could be spent doing those, if the festival is not recommended.
When travelling in the UK last year, we were fortunate to discover we would be in Dorset when a huge steam fair was on. What a delight that was, we are so glad we found out about it, just amazing . . . wouldn’t have missed it for the world. But of course it wouldn't have been everyones cup of tea, hence my question above.
Love this forum . . . . . although I've still got no idea exactly what our plans are/will be, we are at least starting to feel very comfortable that the info gained here, is now coming together and is stored away for reference. Thanks again . . . . .
