Taxis between Modica and environs

Our itinerary for September is coalescing, and we will be based in Modica for 3 nights. While there, we would like to visit Scicli and Ragusa Ibla. I realize that we can use the local buses, but we are interested in maximizing our time, so we would like to know about local taxi service:

- Is it relatively easy to get a taxi in each town for travel between Modica/Scicli and Modica/Ragusa Ibla?

- What is the approximate cost for each of the one-way trips?

- Do drivers accept credit cards (we recently returned from Iceland, where this was customary and incredibly convenient), or is cash the only acceptable form of payment?

Thank you!

Taxis are not common and taxis are expensive in Sicily ExpertTripPlanner – Expect to pay €30 in each direction from Modica to Ragusa or Scicli, and €10 for each hour wait cash.

its sadly true - there is 1 taxi in Modica, but there are rental agencies, if you just wanted to rent a car for a day -about 45 euros per day. There is a new driver service opening, Ill post the number as soon as they put up the advert!

A day hire would be a better value, or you could hire a driver from those listed above, or take public transport.

Prego ExpertTripPlanner,

You might also consider a guide and then transport would be included, and then you could really maximise your day!!

Vagabonda, in which towns are these two guides based?

We have decided firmly against renting a car and we will have Christian from New Travel Services handle transfers between Catania Fontanarossa - Modica - Siracusa - Catania Fontanarossa. While in Modica, we would like to get out and see Scicli and Ragusa Ibla.

Thanks.

Bus and train services between Modica, Scicli and Ragusa are fine - you'll be able to move around quite easily. Anywhere off the beaten track is much more difficult however

Train service is shoddy and there's no service on Sundays.
