Day trip over french border?

Any recommendations? We're staying in Calella de Palafrugell again this year, and seen most of the Costa Brava last year via the hire car.

I fancy a day in france, not too long a drive, maybe up to about 2 hours?.

Much appreciated.

be sure to check with the hire company. Some do not allow you to travel over the border, some charge extortionate fees

I have hired cars with www.carjet.com from Girona airport, they charge €7 per day to take the car out of Spain. If you don't pay your insurance may be invalid. If you do go, Perpignan is easily reached in 2 hours. Also lovely coast line from Perpignan to Spain.

Carcassone is well worth the trip.

Have you been to Besalu just inland from Figueres?

If you go to France be sure to visit Coulliere and Port Vendres, both beautiful and not far from Perpignon. Also, Ceret is a lovely market town with a good art gallery; worth a visit.
