Kims or La Siesta

We are planning our first self drive trip to Costa Brava this June and cannot make up our mind which campsite to go to Kims at Llafranc or Siesta at Calella de Palafrugell, at La Siesta we would go with either Keycamp or La siesta. Any help would be appreciated especially distance to beaches and restaurants. Which resort is bigger?

Both resorts are similar sizes with CDP being possibly the bigger but the resorts are side by side and you can easily walk from one to the other. We prefer CDP but it's a matter of taste really as both have plenty of bars and restaurants. We haven't actually stayed on either site but have strolled around both several times. La Siesta is just across the road from the apartments we normally stay in and is about 5-10 minutes walk downhill to a variety of beaches with Canadell being the biggest. It's a very big site, busy in July and August and the pitches can be quite close together. The pool is large and there is a decent supermarket on site.

I'm not as familiar with Kims so someone else could perhaps help with that one but based on past impressions I think I'd opt for Kims and spend time in both resorts. I hope you will have use of a car as the surrounding area is so lovely it would be a shame not to explore a little.

Llafranc and CDP are joined on to each other and although have a different feel to each other are both attractive and you can walk from one to the other either along the amazing coastal path or by road.Llafranc has one long beach, CDP has a number of smaller beaches, all very beautiful.Because of this I would concentrate on what type of campsite and accommodation you want rather than which resort as you can use both resorts from either camp.

La Siesta is a bit bigger and has a higher standard of accommodation and much higher standard of landscaping, toilets etc but is also probably noisier and more commercialised, an easier walk to the beach than Kims I think.

Kims has a charm of its own, more "old fashioned" I would say. Both get VERY busy in season as do the beaches so you must be prepared for that.

Really it is horses for courses, what do you want from your holidays, are there children, do you mind being with other brits etc etc?
