I just got back from my first trip to this area - what a beautiful place!! I had a business trip to Barcelona and since I love smaller, more scenic areas much better than big cities (particularly those swamped with cruise ship visitors) I decided to spend a few extra days outside of Barcelona. I think I got most of my info from here and decided Costa Brava would be a good place to go. We stayed at the Hotel El Far in Llafranc which was a lovely, quiet spot at this time of year. Spent a day there, made one day trip to Tossa de Mar - driving down the beautiful scenic drive along the coast, and made another day trip to Cadaques - another beautiful drive and delightful town. I absolutely loved walking through the tiny streets in this place. We decided to make a trip to Andorra on our last day when we headed back to Barcelona since we figure we'd probably never make it to that country at any other time. The drive was beautiful - Andorra not so much. Anyway, I thought Costa Brava sights were fantastic. Not sure what it's like during the busy season but in October it was a perfect match for my taste.
