costa brava from barcelona port for 2 days?

we will be arriving by cruise to barcelona on may 1. we would like to rent a car to explore costa brava, or hit a beach town if weather is warm. we plan on 2 nights. any thoughts on which town to stay at? also, where are the most scenic coastal areas?

you can drive to the Costa Brava coast from Barcelona in 1.5 hours. If you head for Begur, Tamariu, Llafranc, Pals or Calella de Palafrugell you won´t be disappointed. They are all within 20mins drive of each other.

denise, i forgot that you gave me this answer 2 weeks ago. sorry! i'm sure now that we'll get a hotel in begur (which you recommended on another one of my posts). do you think we should try to get up to roses and cadaques for a day? if so, we'll stay in begur for 2 nights (otherwise, possibly only 1 night).
