Phew !!! ...close call for the rest of the island and a lucky escape ... goes to show just how localised the 'weather' can be in Barbados
...especially as it looked as though Igor was going well to the north
Hope there were no injuries ...very sad for the home ownersEdited: 17 September 2010, 20:06
It was beautiful this morning as I drove to work and then around 9:30 the clouds rolled in - it was interesting because the wind was coming from the South and then just before 10am this massive gale and rain started along with thunder and lightening - lasted for about 30 mins I guess but since then it has just been a little overcast and also a little sunny and of course still very hot!
Its been a nice day on the West Coast, in fact its been nice for the last several days. There was about three hours rain overnight that ended this morning at 7 am. Been in Bridgetown as well today. Weather was also fine there.
That being the case its not looking good for Bermuda, looking possible that they may take a direct hit Sunday / Monday ,tho it is forecasted to be a Cat 2 by then
Got home this evening and had left my bedroom window open which faces South east (I live by Bushy Park in St. Phillip) - no flooding thankfully but all my pillows had somehow end up on the floor - it was quite funny seeing it...and in my back porch all of my cushions were strewn about and for once I decided not to blame the dogs lol
Glad the dogs got off scot free Scary ,lol. Seriously though I am glad you didn't suffer anything too bad, it must be awful for the ones that did. Losing your home is terrible and I just hope that Barbados doesn't get any more bad weather like that. Fingers crossed.
If you look at this link you can see that Igor is in fact a long way from Barbados, but is pulling in cloud all around it. This cloud can clearly be seen over BIM and looks like even now there could be thunderstorms somewhere on the island. I'm always amazed how localized the bad weather can be - as shown by all your experiences there today!
Hope you're not all experiencing too much bad weather!
Sorry, try this link - the other one didn't seem to want to come up!
Beg your pardon! The original link does work if you just click on it!
(Fail !! - as my kids would say!!)
Igor did pass well to the north. Was probably a feeder band to Igor.
