Izamal with younger kids?

Hi, Izamal looks so pretty - we are eager to visit when we are in the area in December.

Could anyone familiar with the town give some recommendations for places to take the kids/local kid hangouts? (we've got a 6 & 9 year old)

Also: if we were to visit on a Sunday - will everything be closed?

Thanks for your help!

Since no one has replied, I will give it a shot.

Izamal is a small town and while not particularly kiddie oriented, there is always something for them to do. You might climb the pyramid in town; the view from the top is breathtaking (as is the climb). Horse and carriage rides through town are also fun. Izamal is famous for its monastery/church thing, and while interesting, probably not the most memorable activity for the kids. I suggest Izamal as a day trip from Merida and/or visit a cenote from Izamal if staying there.
