Outer Banks restaurants and things to do

My family will be attending a wedding 9/12 and we have never been to the Outer Banks. We will be staying a week in South Nags Head and would like suggestions about what to do and what restaurants we should try while we are there.

Be sure to visit the Wright Brothers Monument, climb Jockey's Ridge, walk the shore at sunrise and sunset, and drive north to Corolla.

Take a look at www.SunnyDayGuide.com Lots of suggestions and coupons, too. We've enjoyed Miller's Waterfront restaurant, Sooey's for BBQ and Kill Devils Frozen Custard and Beach Fries for our night time treats. Our favorite things to do are: shopping at Ben Franklins, visiting the aquarium in Manteo and renting pontoon boats and wave runners. If you like 50-60's rock & roll/Coke-a-Cola memorabilia you should visit Big Al's restaurant in Manteo. Take lots of money, it's a little over-priced.

Our house is in South Nags Head, and its a great quiet location that's close to good destinations:

Bodie Island Lighthouse

Oregon Inlet...watch fish come in, or drive out on the beach

Manteo...great little town to walk around. Nice shopping and touring. Also a CVS and McDonalds.

Pea Island & Alligator Refuge....beautiful wildlife area with millions of migrating birds and bears

Outlets...in case you need anything.

Sam and Omies- very local seafood and breakfast restaurant

Nags Head Pier- also great breakfast

Watersport Rentals on the causeway to Manteo

Tortugas Lie- surfer bar and restaurant

Blue Moon Cafe- Our new favorite restaurant. See reviews on TripAdvisor.

The beach will be quiet and beautiful. You will likely spend most of your time there.
