seeing glow worm caves for someone who's afraid of boats

Is there a way to see the glow worms without taking a boat?

Which cave looks the most beautiful? I assume it's one that requires a boat ride. How fast does that boat go and does it rock at all?

Thanks.

At Waitomo the boats that go through the caves move very slowly and are not at all scary - however, if you really have a phobia of boats, you could try going to one of the other glow worm cave areas, where you just walk through the caves - Kawiti Glow worm caves, just south of the Bay of Islands in Northland are excellent, its on a smaller scale than Waitomo, but still an excellent experience.....

Yes, you can go in the caves that don't include the boat, but don't write the boat off. It's unlike any other boat ride you have probably been on.

Have a look at the video here: http://www.waitomo.com/glowworm-video.aspx At about the one minute mark, you can see people getting off the boat and it doesn't rock or move at all as they stand up and get off.

The boat doesn't have a motor, it is pulled along, and so it goes very smoothly and gently and slowly. There are no waves to rock the boat.

Most people forget that they are actually in a boat, as they are too busy looking up at the magical lights.

Thanks a lot. I'll show my mom the video and tell her about the other cave. That boat does look like it's just crawling but she is a big chicken.

We went on the boat tour last year, and it was just amazing. As others have said, there is no motor, the entire cave is filled with a rope network which the guide uses to pull the boats through the water.
