Day Trips for Papagayo

Hello again, My wife and i will be in Costa Rica staying at the Allegro Papagayo. This is our first time in Costa Rica and want to make a great trip of it. What would you suggest within a couple hours of the resort for day trips. We really want to see the country and aren't afraid to drive around. Thanks for all of your help.

Hacienda Guachipelin is a great stop for a day of adventure. You can also visit Rincon de la Vieja National Park and volcano for hiking.

Palo Verde is a good park for wildlife observation including crocs, iguanas, monkeys and many migratory birds.

Santa Rosa is another good park for wildlife observation and hiking.

If you are up for a few hours of driving, you could visit Tenorio National Park and Rio Celeste Waterfall. This is the most beautiful waterfall in Costa Rica.

Another good one...

Llanos del Cortés' Waterfall

The entrance to the waterfall road is located 6 kms (3.7 miles) from Bagaces on Route 1. From this point, at 2 kms (1.2 miles) you will reach the waterfall. The road is in dirt, so probably during the rainy season it is better to use a 4x4 vehicle. There is a big parking space and the hike to the waterfall takes less than 5 minutes. It has a beautiful pond with white sands and swimming is safe.

The waterfall is about 20 meters (66 feet) high and about 40 meters (130 feet) wide. The river were the waterfall is located is the Potrero River.

There is a contribution fee to visit the waterfall and the funds go the local school. The site is clean and there are no debris or garbage.

Another about 2 hours from Papagayo...Santa Rosa NAtional Aprk...a lot of our history in that park...and if you can drive all the way to the ebach iis a great ride...Playa Naranjo...where Witch´s rock is located!

Why not take a morning or afternoon and visit Playa Coco, the town is filled with trinkets and trash stores and some decent restaurants and bars. Many are open air and allow people watching, great to do with a cold Imperial, a pair of shades, and some Cumbia playing in the background. Suddenly the office is a long, long way away.

Have a great vacation.

One of the most popular destinations is Rincon de la Vieja NP, about 65 km from Allegro.

Another nice place to visit is Llanos de Cortes , as Roadadvisor mentions.

Palo Verde is another attraction.

Enjoy costa rica

We are planning to day trip to Tamarindo for surf lessons from Allegro Papagayo. Would a stop off in Coco be too much for a "day" trip or should we make it another day?
