The public bus would be cheaper.
I realize that, thank you for the input.
Check around, you might be able to share a cab with someone. It will be more expensive than the shuttle.
The cheapest way would be by public bus as Simon P said.
I need to get to Tambor tomorrow (Thursday Jan 17)- anybody want to share?
My flight is at 2:30pm-
I'm trying to find the cheapest and quickest way to get from Santa Teresa to Arenal/l La Fortuna since there are not even shuttle buses operating this itinerary and I want to avoid the hassle of going back to San Jose.
I found out that you can actually fly from Tambor airport which costs about 90 USD but at least saves you time.
My question is how to get from Santa Teresa to Tambor by bus since a cab 40 usd would make it too expensive.
Are there public buses from santa teresa to Tambor, or from Montezuma to Tambor early in the morning since my flight would be at 7h50 am?

For ferry information: www.nicoyapeninsula.com
By the way, if you have a flight that leaves at 7:50 am, you should definitely spend your last night somewhere near the airport. You will need to be at the airport a minimum of 2.5 hours ahead of your flight. You will not find bus service in the middle of the night. Not only that, but the ferry won't be running.
There is lodging of all types and prices 15 minutes or less from the airport.Edited: 27 April 2013, 18:52
Just take a taxi can be cheaper...and less time consuming!
Thanks for all your feedbacks.
In fact I already checked all Shuttle services that cover this route and Mal Pais Santa Teresa to Arenal is only covered by Montezuma expeditions. They confirmed they need a minimum of 4 people to make this route this is why I'm considering to fly from Tambor instead even if it's more expensive.
Sleeping in Tambor will be defenitelly the best idea if I need to catch a flight at 7h50.
The flight I would take goes from Tambor to Arenal/ Fortuna. Do you really need to be 2,5 hours in advance at the airport for internal flights in Costa Rica? I was thinking that one hour or ahead would be enough.
