El Valle from beaches - altitude sickness in kids?

Hello! Traveling up from Santa Clara beach to El Valle, do young kids (6 & 2, we have) handle the trip well w/ no altitude sickness? Adults?

No altitude sickness is not an issue, but the road to El Valle has lots of curves, so motion sickness can be an issue.

Hi, and thank you! I have just had spine surgery - can you drive slowly, w/o bothering others? Are the roads uncrowded? Are they paved, and nice & smooth? Thanks!

It is not high enuf to get altitude sickness. You can drive slowly (the road is pretty smooth) if you don't mind cars trailing right closely behind you. We went slow when my husband was driving as I get motion sickness and this road brings it on severely. Don't be frightened, however, if vehicles pass you even on blind curves. It is the Panamanian way.

Hi!

I live at the 11 KM marker on the way to El Valle. El Valle is at 29 KMs. It gets worse past our house. There is the possibility of motion sickness but not altitude sickness as stated in previous posts. Also make sure that the kids have something to chew or suck on because their ears might build up pressures.

We have a friend and said there are 157 curves from the Pan American Highway to El Valle.

Also as stated in previous posts there will be a lot of passing in "NO PASSING" zones. There is NO shoulder on the road, but very few potholes until you get to El Valle. Also watch going around the curves because the cars and especially the buses go over the center line. Also the buses drive like "bats out of hell" on this road.

What day of the week are you going up? Friday-Sunday are the busiest on the roads.

Also make sure you take them to the zoo - it is about an hour to walk all they way around the zoo.
