Hi everyone. Going to Petra end of July, first visit. Would be very grateful for any info on whether you can book days out with local tour companies - boats, bus etc - in Petra as I've heard there are travel firms in molyvos but not Petra. We're really looking forward to doing the day trip to turkey. Also is the beach really rocky and can you buy beach shoes in the town? Many thanks for any info!

small boat trip available from no1 rental, goes to rabbit island, also boat from molyvos calls at petra harbour before going to skala skimminia, have not done day trip to turkey but have been told its a very long day 1 and a 1/2 hours to port to catch early morning ( 8.00 ish I think ) ferry then return to port 7 ish, then return to resort. beach is course sand/shingle with some rocks in edge of water in places, beach shoes available from shops, not many shops but enough, sure you will have a good time, but watch out Lesvos bites !!! you will want to return, we are missing this year hoping to be back next year. notice you are from carlise you must pop into bebe's corner bar and say yiassou to joyce from carlise who works there, from the Workington marras.

We did the Pergammon trip two years ago and it was a very long day. From memory we got picked up at 0730 (maybe earlier) then hour 3/4 to the port in Mytiline. Hour 1/2 or so on the boat Turkey. Approx a 2 hour drive ( again maybe more) to Pergammon. The ancient city is a fantastic site to have a wander round and the views from the top are spectacular. If all goes to plan you get dropped off at some bit buffet restaurant for food then back to The port where you have an hour or so free time before making the return journey back to Lesvos. From memory we got back after dark about 2130 or so.

There is a travel agent in Petra you can book trips etc. it is on the sea front near the main square. The beach in shingle.

Have a good time!

The day trip to Aivalik Bazaar on Thursdays is great.

There is a travel agent who arranges all kind of things. Petra Tours. Just on the road at the water near the town Square.
