Walking Rhodes Town

Walk with a stick (slowly)

Is Rhodes Town relatively level and easy walking

Stayed in Kos Town recently flat with bicycles going everywhere, great strolling

Thinking of Rhodes in Sept and wondered if it was similar, cannot do many hills, but would like to be near day strolls and night entertainment

Generally stay self catering, to enjoy local food and drinks

Both New Town & Old Town will be OK. Some of the alleys in Old town are cobbles

I'm in a similar position posset so would suggest one of the hotels near the Aquarium at the tip of the island. You have got a level walk right round to the Mandraki Harbour from there and lots of places to eat in an evening within a 20 minute walk. Lots of choice around there.

The suggestion of one of the Hotels near to the aquarium is spot on, my suggestion would be the Ibiscus but there are plenty of others in the area. Parts of town (Old and New) are uphill away from the sea but, so long as you take it steady, you should be OK. One thing you could do is use a taxi to get you to one of gates at the higher points of the Old Town, i.e. D'Amboise or Saint Athanasios (known as "Saint Francis Gate" or "San Francisco Gate") and then take a leisurely walk around the Old Town before strolling back down and along the sea front.

Enjoy,

Dave.
