Uvita beachfront accommodation

Hi! Does anyone know of a hotel/cabin/bungalow that is close to the beach in the Uvita area? As we have no car and two small kids (a 5-month old baby, and a 3-years old), we would like to find a place to stay that does not require a 20-minute walk to get to the beach.

Thanks!

I'm sorry that I do not know of a place that meets your requirements in Uvita. The beauty of the beaches in the Costa Ballena area is that they are undeveloped, and so you will not find much lodging directly on our beautiful beaches. One exception, not in Uvita itself, but 10 minutes to the north in Dominicalito is Costa Paraiso. They have an excellent beachfront location and good reviews. Playa Dominicalito is a nice family beach. That said, you will find that this area is best visited when you do have a car. Things are very widespread, cabs are few and far between and buses are not frequent.

I agree with surfer above, it'd be quite complicated getting around without a car. Restaurants, beaches, hotels, markets are all pretty spread out and getting around in that area without a car would be quite a headache. I would contact Solid Rental Car and get a quote to rent a small car or SUV.

Hi,

La Cusinga Lodge is right by the beach. It's an eco lodge, in Uvita area. It's a bit isolated, so if you go there prepare to stay there. However it's fun and looks like you'll enjoy it.

Hope this helps,

We did not need a car in Manuel Antonio since we stayed near the beach, there were stores and restaurants all around, taxis were everywhere and the bus came every 10 minutes or so.

However when we were in the Uvita area we rented a car. It is a wonderful area to explore but I can't imagine staying there without a car, unless you only want to see your hotel. In which case you may prefer a more developed part of Costa Rica with bigger hotels? Cory
