Altamar had lots of entertainment on daily and nightly. You might find you want to stay on site. If not within 10 minutes walk you have the Europa centre that has a mix of bars and restaurants from Chinese to steak etc.

Barbacoa has free entertainment nightly and trampolines/kids play area outside.

It's very safe at night, particularly up around the Europa. Most of the "lively" crowd head down to the town centre.

As it's your first time there, don't think the centre across the way, the Europa centre, is the main bit. Walk down steep hill (or cab €4/5) to the main shopping centre for a bit of shopping. Ignore the touts trying to give you scratch cards!!! You'll "win" of course and there is no getting away from them. They are to do with time share apartments.

A stroll along past McDonalds towards the harbour and beach is nice for a change of scenery too. Lots of café/bars to get a cold drink and a bit of lunch there. Taxis don't cost more than a fiver to get around around the place, if it's too hot to walk back.

If you're feeling brave enough, (I was) a walk to Amadores beach is a lovely afternoon out form the apartments. A nice 20/25 min downhill and definitely a taxi back, €3.50!

It's also a nice walk from PR beach along the coast path to Amadores
