1st Family trip to AMI this summer- what shouldn't we miss??

Our whole family (10 adults and 4 kids under the age of 6) are vacationing in July to AMI for the first time. We're renting a large house a block from the beach. We hope to go out to eat for a few dinners and of course take in some attractions.

Where do you recommend are the must go places for food- dinner and lunch?

What about the must do activities or must see attractions? Is there an outlet mall nearby? What are your favorite golf courses?

Thanks for your help!

Lots of recommendations for restaurants in previous messages. The nearest Outlet Mall would be Premier Outlets in Ellenton .. I think it is exit 224 on I-75. Might take 30 to 45 min to get there.

The Mote Marine Aquarium is at the North part of Lido Key - kids would love it.

The Beach house and Sandbar restaurants are fantastic with kids. Decent food, great view, good service. Both are on the beach, so the kids can run and play until the food comes. They will do call ahead seating for a large group, as well. Lots of other great places to eat, all have kids menus, and are kid friendly, except maybe Beach Bistro.

Mote is a must do, also the Mote boat into Sarasota Bay. They pull up stuff, explain it, and pass it around. Kids that age also like Jungle Gardens in Sarasota. There is a cute mini golf on Bridge Street.

Do pick up some sand toys if there aren't any at the house. The sand is cool and soft, and my grandkids can dig for hours!

Another thing that does not get any attention and is a really nice fun free point of interest is the wild life rescue in the 2200 block of Ave B in Bradenton Beach. The people there will show you around and tell you stories of the birds, turtles and even a deer they have there. It is a fun trip to see some Florida wildlife that is in rehabilitation.
