Swimming in Gulf

About what time of year is the gulf warm enough to swim in? It was too dang cold in March but I'm hoping it's warm enough when I come back the second week of June.

By mid June the Gulf is like bath water. Nice and warm, calm, and inviting!

Anyone know what it's like in mid May?

I live near the North Sea (UK) and it is always ice cold, even in the height of summer! Looking forward to a bit of a splash about. I had shoulder surgery recently and don't think I'll be able to swim but I will definitely want to splash.

Also wondering if this unusually cold weather the east coast has had this winter will factor in to water temps as well

i have always found the water warm enough in may/june for me.

AS for this cool year, yes it has been having an effect. The air and sea temps are cooler now (I am here) than this week last year. But by summer it will be the same as always.

Two years ago we went in late May (the week before Memorial Day weekend started). It was perfect. It was a bit cool when the sun started to go down, but on hot days it felt great. :) Have fun!

We are coming a bit earlier this year too (4 weeks!). Although I would like the cooler water. my little guy (4) literally turns blue when water is less than 85. All his cousins thought he was crazy last year sitting out in the sun wrapped in a towel shivering in June. I can't wait!

The locals like us only swim in the summer. By June it is definitely summer around here and time for swimming in the Gulf!
