Just got back from a quick weekend trip on the island and all I can say is WOW, I have not seen the beach this gorgeous in years. What a success the re-nourishment project is, the sand is white as snow, soft and no problem walking barefoot, it felt great. Even the sand in the water felt amazing, no sea weed, no drops, just amazing, we actually swam out to the sand bar.
Stayed at Cedar Cove Resort, I will post a review in a few days but it is a little slice of heaven, especially for someone who loves the beach but cant stay in the sun long, they have tiki huts, swings, hammocks and plenty of areas to relax out of the sun, we loved it.
We had lunch at the Rod and Reel and loved the renovations, we always eat in the downstairs bar and I like the new configuration, so cool to watch the fishermen and see the Skyway Bridge. Food was so good, as always, I just don't think there is a better deal on the island, grilled mahi mahi sandwich, crispy french fires and coleslaw for $10.99, superb.
Great weather, great weekend the only thing that could have been better was if we had more time. I know we all talk about the island changing, well, it is still paradise and the beach was not at all over crowded, cant wait to get back.
