What is the best option to travel around Madikeri?

Hi,

We are a group of 4 guys, planning to goto Coorg for a 4 day/ 3 nights trip in Dec. But we do not want to over spend and want to best utilize the time and money.

Please advice as to what is the best solution to travel around Madikeri to be able to visit all the major tourist spots like Bhagamandala, Talacauvery, Madikeri Fort, Raja seat, Abbey Falls, Dubare Elephant camp, Bylakuppe Golden Temple and Cauvery Nisargadhama? Is there regular and enough local transport from the town like busses/ share autos to be able to travel to all these places? Or is renting a cab the better option? Could you also provide contact info of local travel agents with whom we can enquire for a cab?

Also wanted to know if there is any option to rent bikes?

Thanks in advance,

Kalpesh

There are local transports available including mini buses & shared Jeeps.Even autos are available for shorter distances.

Having your own cab will definitely be a better option in terms of time & convenience since you are a group of 4.

Hi,

It is worth spending 6 days in Coorg? We are planning to stay from 9th Feb. to 16th Feb.at Club Mahindra.

If we go for sight-seeing trips to nearby places what is the best solution to travel around Madikeri to visit all the major tourist spots like Bhagamandala, Talacauvery, Madikeri Fort, Raja seat, Abbey Falls, Dubare Elephant camp, Bylakuppe Golden Temple and Cauvery Nisargadhama?

Is there regular and enough local transport from the town like busses/ share jeeps/autos etc. available to travel to all these places?

Is renting a cab the better option? If we do so how to group the sightseeing places ? What are the distances? Since we have about a week, we do not want to rush for the sightseeing but roam leisurely.

. Is it possible to make one day trip of Nagarhole Tiger reserve also?

Please advice.

Hi,

Ideally 3 days are sufficient to cover Coorg sector.

Club Mahindra is away from the main town centre & its preferable to avail local cabs for sight seeing.

On day 1,you can plan Bylakuppe golden temple,Cauvery nisargadhama,Dubare elephant camp & Raja seat in the evening.Next day,you can cover Abbey falls,Bhagamandala,Talacauvery & Fort.

Nagarahole can be covered in a day tour.

Incase of additional days, you can explore the options of visiting other places nearby too.

Hi Deepak,

thank you for the information.

If we make one day trip Nagarhole National Park, how far is the park & what time we have to leave the Club Mahindra Resort to enjoy maximum wild life?

What are timings to enter park? Are any jeeps available to enter the park or we can take our vehicle.

Pl. inform

Hi,

The forest department's RFO office in the park conducts safaris, twice a day, from 6am to 9 am & from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.

The park opens form 6 am in the morning till 5pm in the evening.

From Madikeri, drive on Mangalore Highway-Bhagamandala / Talacauvery road and straight on Virajpet Road-Iruppu Falls-Kutta-Nagarahole.Its around 80 kms & should take around 2 hours drive.
