To stay or nor not stay

Hi

Heading off to Salzburg and I've seen pictures of Bad Goisern. Is it worthwhile staying in Bad Goisern for a night or two or just do a day trip from Salzburg.

Thanks

Any reason for Bad Goisern? Good as a walking base and scenery but that is about is.

Bad Ischl would make a much better base.

Hi

No particular reason other than it looked nice. I'll look into Bad Ischl.

Thanks

odd, but bad goisern is a place i have constantly overlooked. i have driven through it, but did not find it too attractive. it lies along a valley and is a bit stretched out.

bad ischl is a good base. it is a small town. and there are other villages in the general area that are more attractive places to stay.

but whatever you do, there is absolutely no need to have an overnight there, as it is is reasonable proximity to salzburg

Bad Goisern is set in very nice wooded and mountainous scenery and makes a great base for a cycling/walking holiday. It's on the same north/south railway line as Bad Ischl/Hallstatt/Obertraun.

The Historic town of Bad Ischl makes a better base for exploring the Salzkammergut. If you don't have a car you will find it's very simple to do trips from Bad Ischl to Lake Traunsee, Lake Wolfgang, Lake Hallstatt.

Thanks. It appears Bad Ischl might be the better option.
