Curcuron and a hotel there

We are hoping to stay one or two nights in the Luberon in September. Not surprisingly the area is already booking out.

We are looking at the Hôtel Restaurant l'Arbre de Mai in Curcuron. Can anyone tell us about that hotel and Curcuron itself?

We are a little concerned that the hotel has no private parking.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Cucuron is a lovely, tiny tiny little village. Quaint & quiet so I wouldnt be too worried about the no parking.

Sorry but never check this hotel so cant help you on this.

What kind of hotels are you looking at ?

Cucuron is a lovely little town - the picture in my icon is of the market there.

Private parking in small villages is not common but there are large public car parks in the village.

Cucuron is a tiny but lovely town. I can't see that parking will be a problem. If you have seen the Russell Crowe movie "A Good Year"....the "old movie" scene where they get caught in the rainstorm was filmed in the square in Cucuron. There is an amazing restaurant there caled La Petite Maison..again right on the town square. Bring your $$$$.

Sorry, can't help you with the hotel...

Not really much commerce in Cucuron...a couple of cafes, a boulangerie...not sure if there is even an alimentation. But I know there is a Casino in Lourmarin which is 6 or 7 kms away...

We stayed in Cucuron for a week in Sept. 2011. The only problem with parking is that you can not park right at your hotel. There are many spots on the ring road that goes around the town and a few parking lots, too. We never had a problem finding a spot, though a few times we had to walk 3 or 4 minutes to get back to our apartment ( oh no !). Ask where there are good places to park and areas to avoid. Use common sense & don't leave anythiong in the car that will prompt a theft.

Go to Google street view & take a tour around the village. You'll see how the locals park all over the place.

Please review the hotel for us. We almost stayed there but opted for an apartment. I have read that they have very good food, though that comment was a few years ago & we did not see any dining the time or two we walked past it. Cucuron is a wonderfull small village.

vwrabbit, your comment is very helpful. We are taking quite a long trip this time and I will be doing my best to review all hotels but certainly this one for you.

Just thought I would update now that we have returned. Cucuron was magic, we loved it so much we didn't want to leave. The hotel L'Arbre de Mai was very good. We ate there on our second night only because the restaurant was closed on the first night. The food was indeed good. Access to the hotel was a little tricky but mainly because we were making a long trip and had two 20 kg bags. We loved the etang area of the village featured in the movie. It was lined with restaurants and a bar. We were also lucky to be there for market day and we did the village walking tour. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear you had a wonderful experience there. Now that our weather is beginning to turn to Fall we are thinking of Cucuron & our last visit this time of year. Will have to drink wine to get over it !
