Any suggestions for bus trips?

We'll be visiting again later this month and can't wait as we have a whole fortnight this year to enjoy.

Not really fussed about doing the Thomson/Thomas Cook expensive trips, nor do I want to hire a car.

So, we got the local bus to Ibiza Town for a few hours last summer, and are looking for ideas for places to go this summer, maybe for a couple of half days. Somewhere we can wander round, look at some sights, have a spot of lunch, the odd coffee/cold beer.

Is San Antonio worth a few hours, or is it in your face/Brits abroad nonsense?

Or, maybe Es Canar?

Any suggestions welcome.

You could go to Sant Josep and maybe combine it with a visit to Cala Tarida for some sunbathing and maybe a lunch at one of the hill top restaurants. There is a bus leaving from Ibiza town to Cala Tarida via Sant Josep, but there is only three buses a day. A taxi between Cala Tarida and Sant Josep should'nt be that expensive. Take a look at ibizabus.com for all bus routes and timetables.

Thanks for the replies.

We like to spend most of the holiday relaxing, catching some rays, reading some books efc. but it is nice to get out and about 2/3 times over the fortnight.

Don't like to commit to or plan too many activities, but I think we'll take the bus over to San Antonio for a half day look around, and I've found out that T Cook do an evening trip to Ibiza Town and Las Dalias market which sounds ok.

I've looked at the mini train that runs from the harbour at SE too. A three hour trip for 16 euros seems reasonable.

It's a shame daughter hates boats otherwise I'd love to go over to Formentera.

Anyway, once again thanks for the suggestions.

There are two mini train trips. The one that leaves from the middle of town, in front of the town hall is a "comedy trip" It takes you to a cafe in the middle of nowhere for a drink, then stops at the museum up by the old church in Santa Eulalia. The driver cracks jokes all the way round - it was fun, the museum is good but the cafe venue is a bit odd. It was 15 euros each for 2 hours

San Antonio is well worth a visit to see the sun set a must for me on every visit.

Dalt Vila the old town of Ibiza is well worth a visit, the views from the top above the cathedral are well worth the effort to get there.

Well worth getting the ferry from Ibiza Town round to talamanca bay or Playa den Bossa.

Walking along the golden sands of Playa den Bossa you pass Bora Bora and all the famous beach bars and hotels, including the new Hard Rocks hotel were a meal only costs 1500 euros each, you can see how the other half live. Plenty of beach bars which are missing in Santa Eulalia.

I certainly would have a meal in Ibiza Town at night is a magical place to eat, is a must for us most nights when in Ibiza, even though 70 this year, still has the same buzz it did 30 years ago. Visiting Ibiza Town in the day apart from visiting Dalt Vila is pointless as it has no spark as most places dont open until 11pm

Splash out and get the ferry to formentera, it's beautiful. Es cana on wednesday is the hippy market and monday night is las dalias hippy market.

Ibiza town is lovely. Had the misfortune of being in san antonio one night after a boat trip, scary experience.

But definitely go to formentera.

But definitely go to formentera. There's two trains, get the one that stops near the harbour, the bus stop has a picture of Thomas the tank engine. We got the wrong one from the square.

The a Hippy Market in Es Canar is fun the music is good just keep an eye on you purse. If you come out of the Market and turn left it leads to a lovely beach with a few cafe bars and restaraunts great for sitting and chilling out. There are also some lovely sea facing cafe and Restaraunts in Es Canar perfect for just sitting with a beer or Sangria x Formentera was lovely but be warned it is very hot there as no tall buildings to shelter you from the sun and the supermarkets tend to close for a couple of hours so make sure you have plenty of water. The beach is stunning you can hire bicycles to explore near the ferry drop off x you need to keep an eye on time as when the last ferry goes you could end up stranded have a great time exploring x
