places to eat and drink and markets

Hi we are going to stay at the panorama in Stalis tomorrow for a week and wanted to know if anyone could recommend anywhere to eat (my husband has a large appetite) and places to go for a drink after with live music, fun or a quiz. Also does anyone know if there is a market in stalis or a town near for trinkets etc.

Hi Sue

The Panorama Apts are ideally located in Stalis resort centre close to many good restaurants & bars so you will be spoilt for choice. Here are a few restaurants & tavernas I can recommend - Amici (just a few steps along beach road from your accom); Jasmine House (Chinese rest. just a few steps further along from Amici); Maria's Golden Beach (turn left out of accom and a few mins along beach road); Hellas Taverna (up side street by Maria's and our favourite in Stalis); Kostas Tavern (turn right out of accom and around 10 mins walk or so along beach road); Katerina (turn right out of accom, walk 5 mins, turn right up side street opposite Anthoussa Hotel and it is one min up on right.

There is such a wide array of good restaurants & tavernas in Stalis you will have fun choosing and eating in a different one each night, but at least the above gives you a good starting point as to some of the very good ones.

Insofar as having a drink with live music, then the best place in Stalis is the Beachcomber Bar. Very good live music in the open air, good cocktails and a fun holiday atmosphere. Turn riight out of accom and it is 10 mins max walk along the beach road. Many bars in stalis to suit all tastes, some quiet & some a bit more lively and a few that have quizzes.

Hope this helps and have a good holiday.

You must try Yannis Golden Heart, just opposite the Panorama, excellent food, service and value for money.

Hi there

If you did want to visit a market then you would have to either travel into Heraklion or Agios Nikolaos - as these markets are really aimed at the locals rather than tourists. Heraklion has a market every day and Agio's Market is on a Wednesday morning.

Hi Sue

As has already been said, Beachcomber is great for live music - brilliant for singing along to live rock covers whilst enjoying a cocktail overlooking the beach.

I'm very envious... have a good time!

PS if you are after trinkets, there are plenty of tourist shops in Stalis selling souvenirs, no need to go further afield unless you particularly want to. The shops are open til late so you can combine shopping with your evening stroll/dinner.

PPS Did I tell you I'm envious?? :)
