Any idea whereabouts these apts are in relation to the town as have not come across them before ? We liked the town- the small boats pull right up to the tavernas in some spots along the front ! Plenty of eating places, restaurants, tavernas, cafes, snack bars etc. The main drag is closed to traffic in the evenings - car parks nearby.

We walked into the harbout at night and coming back joined the queue at the taxi rank. A guy asks where you are headed and fills up the taxis accordingly- very cheap and as we were up the steep hill towards Samos Town very welcome after sampling the local wine !

Ok - pretty sure these are on the airport side of town -dont worry- airport noise is minimal, no night flights and very quick transfer! Friends of ours stayed in that area and tended to walk into town (its flat) but taxi back at night. There is a local shop where their kids bought drinks, snacks etc.- not sure how big.

Suggest you post again next year and hopefully someone returning can give you up to date info.

Hello there

I have just come back from Two weeks at the Glyfada. It is a small development with about 16 to 18 lets. There is a nice pool. The bar is selve service and runs on an honesty box and is open 24 hours. It is very close to the airport and transfer time is only 2 minutes but don't worry as there are no night time flights and only about 8 day time. It is just off the main road into Pythagorio. Whilch has a footpath and is well lit (about 20 mins walk). There is a supermarket about 200 meters away but not much else in the immediate vicinity. The port area has a lot of bars and places to eat and is cosmopolitan but in an agreeable way. There are always taxis about if you cant face the walk back. There are no 18 to 30's etc and mostly Scandinavians as tourists. From Glyfada it's about 10 minutes walk to the beach which is shingle. Samos is excellent for walking. Anything else you want to know just ask

Sorry we were not in a maisonette but they looked very nice from the outside and the people who were using them seemeed to spend a lot of time in them. They are only a couple of years old so quite modern.

We never came accross any pool tables. Most of the bars tend to be on the harbour and are more cocktail type. There are a few in from the sea front but they tend to be of a typically Greek type with locals and tourists having ouzo coffee etc. There are a couple of large hotels near the Glyfada who may well have pool tables but we never ventured there

for teenagers, I agree that there aren't the pool table type places in Pythagorio. If you take a taxi towards Samos Town, the big cinema has opened on the coast road leading into Samos Town and there are pool tables etc downstairs where adults can enjoy a drinks. The cinema shows fairly up to date movies for all the family. The films are in English with Greek subtitles.

Otherwise, try a trip to Kokkari where you can learn to windsurf during the day and I seem to remember seeing one or two of the bars along the beach having pool tables and it's a nice walk trying to locate them!
