Early 20 gals looking hotels

Hi - daughter and friend (just 21) looking to come down after the New Year. Looking for a hotel with good pool/beach close to fun/safe nightlife. Never been to PR before and have no idea where to steer them. Suggestions for hotels and area would be great. Budgetwise they're college students but don't want to stay in a dormlike atmosphere.

Thanks

That is our busiest week in Tourism. I would look into Isla Verde or Condado. Isla Verde has better beach, less waves. If you can't find Hotels in their budget, I would look into Vacation Rentals.

Hi Sebago, La Concha in the Condado is your best bet. Great onsite nightlife, excellent pool nice beach plus many walkable venues. OSJ is close by by bus ( day) taxi (night). As a generalization, San Juan is more appreciated by North Shore, rather than South Shore or Metrowest people.

As mentioned above, the holiday season is high season in PR. Therefore, everything will be expensive. I just bought a ticket to PR and paid almost $700 just because I'll be traveling during Christmas through New Years. This being said, Intercontinental and El San Juan in Isla Verde are the best options because they meet all your requirements: nice pools, good beach, great nightlife (El San Juan has the hottest club in town), plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. These hotels are right next to each other.

La Concha in Condado is also great, but the beach is often rough, which makes it not swimmable most of the time.

One cost effective option to consider is renting a condo. Both Marbella and ESJ Towers condominiums are within steps from Intercontinental and El San Juan hotels, and on the same beach. These condos get good reviews here on TA. You can find them here: vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/…isla-verde

Another option to consider is bidding on Priceline.com. Just be sure to bet for a 4 stars hotel/resort.

These Hotels are great, but I thought she was looking for a something on a Student budget. ESJ Towers is great to save money, because they have a kitchen and they can save a lot on food cost.

For a students budget, check out the Courtyard by Marriott in isla verde if a really calm beach is most important. If nightlights, restaurants, bars, shops, Etc. Are the priority, check out the new Best Western Condado Palm. It's a great budget hotel right in the heart of all the action in Condado on Ashford Avenue across the street from the beach.

Howard Johnson is also on the cheaper side. It's not on the beach, but within walking distance.
