Hotel Volcan directions to Playa Blanca centre

We are staying at Hotel Volcan in November and never been to Playa Blanca before. I know we are by the marina, but do not know which way we need to go to Playa Blanca or the best beach. We are staying B&b so will be going out and about to see the area. Restaurant and bar recommendations will also be appreciated.

Thanks Delboy, amazing photos, I feel as though I know what I am in for now. It looks a really good pathway to follow. Plenty of places to stop off along our travels. I am sure we will have a great holiday.

that's easy - your hotel sits above Marina Rubicon - walk through the Marina and the coastal promenade contines into Playa Blanca, past the ferry port and on for another few miles towards Faro de Pechiguera.

If you walked from your hotel in the opposite direction away from the marina, you can walk along the coast as far as the famous Papagayo beaches.

In terms of beaches, Papagayo beaches are stunning but no shade/services/facilities. Best bet for you will be to walk through Marina towards Playa Blanca and, once you're through the marina, 5 minute walk will bring you to Playa Dorada - in my opinion the best beach in the resort.

Good choice to go B&B as Blanca has a superb choice of restaurants. Some recommendations:

At Marina Rubicon, Lani's snack bar, One Bar or Vino Blanco for casual snacks/lunches. La Taberna for tapas and Casa Brigida for really good fish.

In the complex directly behind Playa Dorada Beach, Casale Franco is simply superb italian (owners ran successful London restaurants) - authentic, great value, impeccable service. Good use of a proper wood fired oven and stunning seaviews. In the same complex, Taberna Godino is good value for tapas.

In Playa Blanca, Cervantes for quality casual canarian food and super grilled meats on the barbq. For something more upmarket, La Chalanita specialises in dishes flambeed at your table. Book a window table for seaviews. El Horno de la Abuela (sister restaurant to Cervantes) is great for traditional setting and food - think goat, rabbit, suckling pig etc. Los Hervideros is also good.

Bar recommendations - depends on your preference. I'm more of a 'quiet drink before/after dinner' than anything else, so these may or may not be to your tastes - in Marina Rubicon, Vino Blanco is a great wine bar. Next door Blue Note has live jazz every evening. Also El Mirador has stunning sunset views. One bar at far end of marina is also good. At the opposite end of the resort from your hotel is La Marea- the best chill out bar in the resort with stunning views across to Fuerteventura. (there's a selection of restaurants directly above it so you could make a night of it).

Hope you enjoy Playa Blanca as much as we do - you've chosen well in terms of hotel, location and going B&B - have a fab time.

Thanks JoMark, you have given us a lot of great recommendations for places to eat and drink. We are there for 8 days so should be able to try quite a few of them. We generally go for a meal and then on for a few drinks, nothing too rowdy, although we do like some music. We have visited Costa Teguise about 15 years ago, and Tenerife many times and fancied trying somewhere different for a winter break. It is just nice to get away from the weather here and chill out. I am sure we are going to have a great time. We are going to try to visit Fuerteventura for the day while we are there. 4 weeks to go!!!
