Sights along the A67 Valladolid - Aguilar De Campoo

Hi there.

We live in Cantabria and are going to a wedding this weekend in Valladolid. On Sunday we're hoping to travel back up the A67 nice and slowly and visit some places on the way. Does anyone have any suggestions, as we don't know the area well at all and don't really know where to start. We would be willing to drive maybe half an hour or so from the motorway in either direction. We DO know Aguilar very well, and have also been to Peñafiel (which I know is not exactly that way!). We're interested in pretty villages, castles, museums or spectacular views! Also possibly walking if anyone knows of any 1-2hr walks around the area. Is Palencia itself worth a stop on a Sunday? Thanks!

I went to Palencia two years ago and enjoyed it. Read the top questions on the right panel.

Well, for the record, we stopped at Ampudia to see the impressive castle, and at Fromista, right on the A67, with an impressive selection of churches, storks and the Canal de Castilla, definately a good place to stop and right on the motorway (and Camino de Santiago).
