Snapper Fishing - September

Gidday

Am considering booking a fishing charter with the Mussel Barge guys in September. Has anyone been out lately? Has the fishing been good? Are they still operating? Used to be a regular customer of theirs 8 years ago, so I have been a bit out of touch.

Or will September be too cold for a boy from the Cook Islands?

Cheers

And for slightly warmer air-temps, you could always try your luck up here from Tutukaka! Onshore, the Snapper Rock cafe at the marina is a popular spot to socialise. Ka kite RBB.

Thanks Dianz

But I need to know if anyone is catching and the last person I will ask that question to is the operator - because the fish are 'always biting' haha

And/or I can take Frangipani's advice and try Waiheke Island - at least if there is no fish, there are lots of cafes and wineries.

Good to read that Darryl is now the owner operator. He 'goes'hunting' as opposed to fishing - beacuse a happy customer will always come back. Roy had a tendency to park the boat and read his newspaper (or was it the form guide for the gg's)

Silly me

Just realised that Tutukaka is not on Waiheke - or is it...?? Been away too long.

Yet, if you are keen on trying your luck on Waiheke, I can suggest a couple of spots to throw a line out./over-board. Toots (Tutukaka) is renowned for its offshore fishing grounds, and if you do venture up here we can easily arrange another TA meetup when the snapper aren't biting!

Hi again RBB, I emailed a friend who lives half way between Coro Town and Thames. She says that she's been away for a bit on holiday but she thinks mostly kahawai with some snapper being caught right now but that will probably change as water temps rise. Hope that helps.

Happy fishing where ever you end up!

Hi Dianz

Thanks for the 'heads up'. That's the kind of advice I was looking for. I am booking a spot today.
