Walks in Mount Cook National Park in early August

We plan to spend a 1.5 days in the Mount Cook village in early August and I'm trying to figure what we will be able to do. Obviously the lake cruise is out. Can we do the Hooker Valley hike (all 8km) with just good hiking shoes? What about the two Tasman Glacier/Lake viewpoint hikes? What is the drive along the Tasman glacier road like (it's unsealed, isn't it) to the trailheads? Any other nice, doable hikes and/or tours (such as the 4WD tour)?

Hi,

We'll be there about the same time. Follow us ;-) You need to check with the DOC office on the day for track and weather conditions and at altitude be prepared for anything and RAPID changes.
