Riu Ferrara - anything for kids?

We have booked to stay at Riu Ferrara for a week at the start of March. We are travelling with a very active 2 year old and were wondering if there was much for children to do in the surrounding areas? We might hire a car so if there is anything within about an hours drive we would be really interested to know. Thanks.

Unfortunately March is outside the main holiday season, also not in school holidays, so there is very little open for 2 year old activities. Other than a small play park on the promenade, Torrox has nothing but the beach (weather permitting).

Torrox itself is pretty quiet, and as pavoreal says, the kids playground on the Paseo Maritimo is very small. We spent most days in Nerja, the beach at Burriana is the best (though still a bit stony) with a few play areas. There is also a nice little playground and gardens at the Nerja caves, (though the caves themselves, while perfectly safe, might be a bit scary for a two year old).

I would recommend getting a car. The shopping mall at Il Engenio (between Torre Del Mar and Velez Malaga) is about half an hour's drive, and has a few kiddie rides which will keep the little one happy for a while!

You might read on some sites that Tivoli World theme park in Benalmadena is open on Sundays during the winter - on arrival we found this was not true, it does not open until April. it is quite a drive from Torrox, so do not have a wasted visit!
