1 week around Trapani

Hi,

we will spend 1 week i nSicily, landing in trapani and then 1 week in Pantelleria.

For the fisrt week, i would like to avoid hiring a car for too long, too stressing...wer are more looking for some traditional places, coutryside, typical cities etc.

Can i get some ideas of itinerary which could be easy and nice?

We could hire a car for 2 days as an example.

Thanks!

There's lots to do - and plenty of places to visit - near Trapani although, to get to see Mozia, the Laguna dello Stagnone and surroundings, we found it a lot easier to hire a car for the day... probably from Marsala, where we'd moved on to after spending a few days in Trapani, and then on Favignana.

A few pictures amongst those here...

The roads - in that area at least - were very very quiet, though it was a few years ago now!

Ciao chapustefi,

The towns in Western Sicily are typical and traditional – Trapani, Marsala, Mazara del Vallo, Partanna, Castellammare del Golfo, Castelvetrano…

You could visit these towns by bus or train, but to visit the smaller villages you would require a car.

Ciao chapustefi,

The trip to Favignana would depend on when you’d be travelling. In summer, you would very much appreciate staying overnight.

You might enjoy Baglio Fontana in Buseto Palizzoli, Azienda Agriturismo Fontanasalsa in Fontanasalsa, or Tarantola Agriturismo in Alcamo.

That's rather like asking "Is one chocolate better, or two?"

We enjoyed it very much and went back again another year, though on that second trip we did find the two or three days we began with on Pantelleria was quite enough..........however I see we've all had that particular conversation once, back in April!

Since you'll be in the Trapani area the last week in August, try to spend a night on Favignana....

I stayed in Castellammare del Golfo for 14 days in Feb 2010. It is a small town west of the palermo Airport, so it is not in the countryside. We rented a car for the whole time. Our hotel had free parking nearby, and driving in this small city was not stressful. Castellammare had good access to A29 Autostrada which we used to visit Erice, Mozia, Marsala, Segesta, Selinunte, Agrigento, and Trapani. It was next to the ocena and had beautiful views

Driving in trapani itself was stressful due to the crowding, small streets and the other cars driving so fast in the small streets.
