Any top tips for Ramsau?

Hi

We have booked a weeks walking holiday in Ramsau this fall - are there any good suggestions you have for Ramsau - either great hikes, or places to visit or eat.

We won't have a car and are quite keen walkers.

So looking forward to it!

Thanks

Hi,

We stayed in Ramsau am Dachstein early last December. Not walking weather, but it was quite warm while we were there for the time of year. Don't miss going on Der Dachstein cable car trip in Ramsau am Dachstein. We stayed at a wonderful place called the Pension Haus Maria. li and Denise make their own videos do of things to do in the area.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but the area is gorgeous! It's on our list of must return to's.

Paul

Ramsau Am Dachstein is a walkers paradise with trails to suit all abilities. Gutenberghaus and Silberkarklam are very popular.

Hopefully your booked accommodation is a Summer Card Partner so you receive The Summer Card. http://www.sommercard.info/en

Over 100 free experiences and discounts on many more. A trip on the Gondola up to the glacier is free (once in a 7 day period) and in addition you can have one free return journey per day on any of the other lift systems in the area.

Buses in the area are also free with The Summer Card. There is also a free Hiking Taxi if you want to go further afield.

There are many great places to eat in Ramsau. Just make sure you try the food before putting any salt on it as the Austrian diet can be a bit salty. The Trip Adviser list of restaurants should see you right.

If you venture down to Schladming in the valley below, try the Talbachschenke on the Tailback Gorge. Our favourite but not much for vegetarians.
