Lodging for Authur's Pass area

Hello, can anyone recommend a good B&B (or even a home rental) that would be convenient to Authur's Pass? I only found one B&B in Authur's Pass itself.

Thanks in advance.

Coaster2, thanks for the info. I did come across that one (which looked good) but was checking to see if there were any others. Is there a town that's within an hours drive that might have accommodations?

Hard to believe there are less than 50 permanent residents there lol

thanks,

Andy

there is luxury lodges (wildernes lodge and Grasmere lodge back toward Christchurch. Springfield is a little over an hour away. it has motels, an old hotel anda backpackers.

toward greymuth there is rata Backpackers (1/2 hour drive) and then jacksons retreat which is really a camper van park.

there are two modern motel units in arthur's pass as well

you are in the middle of the Southern alps. shared with Kea who will attempt to eat your car or camera if you are not looking. other than that, no, thats all there is.

It was originaly a construction village established in 1908, and many of the original houses are there. the village was established for the construction of the Otira tunnel, which at the time of opening was the longest tunnel in the southern hemisphere and in the British comonwealth. it was also the first electrified traction in NZ. it is the highest alpine village in NZ and in the misddle of the oldest national park in the south island

have an awesome stay and do enjoy the many walks on offer
