How cold does it get In Feb

We are visiting South Island and spending most of the time on the West Coast.

After flying into Christchurch, we plan to stop for one night at Mt

Cook Village on our way to Queenstown. Just wondering how cold does it get in Mt Cook in early Feb. We like to look around but not that fit for long hikes, etc.

February is generally our hottest month but South Island weather is very changeable and cold snaps are possible, as has happened over the past few days where snow has fallen on the mountains.

Be prepared by packing a warm jersey, pants and jacket and you should be fine.

Cool in the evenings is probably around 10. During the day it could approach 30 or higher. But I understand you have been having 40's so I suppose you might find anything cool.
