Trip to Western Ireland in mid July - Need help!

My husband, two adult sons (18 and 30) and I are traveling to Ireland this summer for 7 nights. We are planning to fly in/our of Shannon. We will be spending three days in the Listowel area for a Gathering Event during the middle of our trip. Trying to decide where else to go/what to do and would appreciate any advice/tips.

We are thinking a couple of days in Killarney and possibly Limerick or Cork, however we are not set on anything yet. We will rent a car and wish to only have two or three different hotel/B&B stays. However, I don't want to spend a lot of time driving from place to place. We enjoy walking, historical tours and of course music/beer in the pubs at night!

I should also mention that we have been to Dublin for a few days and Galway for one.....LOVED them both!

Thanks in advane for your suggestions!

Here is what I suggest:

Day 1 Arrive Shannon. Drive to Listowel (60 miles, about 90 minutes driving)

Day 2 Listowel

Day 3 Listowel

Day 4 Listowel ???? (or is Day 1 counted as one of your days in Listowel)

Day 5 Killarney

Day 6 Killarney

Day 7 Limerick

The distances between all of the above are not long, so lots of driving will not be required.

If you do have an extra day to spare (Day 4) you could also fit in a trip to Beara Peninsula in beautiful West Cork

Come back with how many full days you expect to have in Listowel

We will be in Listowel at the of day 3 and spend 3 nights. We have 3 days on front end and least 1.5 on back end. Looking for good suggestions on places to visit at beginning and end of our trip.

Do you have time to visit the Dingle Peninsula? I hear it's beautiful and that was one of my must-see attractions when I planned my trip there in September.

Yes....that is pretty accurate. Not looking to drive more than couple hours to other areas. Also, think we will limit to two areas - one before Listowel and another after.
