Tipperary or Limerick, which is better to spend time in?

We will be visiting Ireland in early May and will be driving ourselves, travelling around southern Ireland to Killarney, then touring the Ring of Kerry and will eventually make our way to Galway and then back to Dublin. We have one night to spare, and though we'd visit Tipperary and or Limerick areas. Any ideas for things to see and places to stay?

Carol

Personally I would opt for neither of these and would prefer Waterford Kilkenny or Cork.

The logical option would be to break the Killarney to Galway leg. That generally means Clare and usually west Clare for the Cliffs and Burren. For another option you could consider the east Clare/north Tipperary border of Killaloe/Ballina at the foot of Lough Derg?

It depends really on what you want to see/do

There is a huge amount to see in Limerick and its often missed out because of negative stereotypes.

I shall harness another stereotype and perhaps suggest (notice the caution here lol!!) that as an Australian you may be interested in Rugby Union.

Limerick is the home of the world famous Thomond Park Rugby Ground and you can do tours of it - very interesting.

Some places to see in Limerick and the surrounding area:
