Beach update

Looks like more beach work (repairs !) to the beach 😳

The State will correct the failures of the work of the beach of El Castillo

By Drafting - Wednesday, 20 Sep. 2017 18

The State is committed to repair all the faults registered in the northern part of El Castillo beach as a result of the regeneration works undertaken by the Ministry of the Environment and to clean the seabed. This is how the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Mercedes Roldós, the President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Marcial Morales, and the Mayor of Antigua, Juan José Cazorla, have been transferred today, Wednesday, September 20. also attended the councilman of Beaches, Hugo Flavio Estévez.

Both the City Council of Antigua, Cabildo of Fuerteventura and businessmen of Caleta de Fuste described a few weeks ago as "disastrous" the result of these works in the north of the beach of El Castillo after the appearance of socavones, unevenness and mud in the background of the sea in a space very frequented by bathers and users of nautical sports.

The State will draft and tender a project to correct all the detected faults and will also carry out a screening of the sand of the beach to eliminate the stones that have also appeared in this zone of the coast of Antigua.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the City of Antigua have monitored the execution of this work, and in that process there are technical reports in which it is verified the poor execution of the actions that have been carried out for the regeneration of the beach of El Castillo.

Yes, this was reported in the press today, following a meeting with all concerned.

Let's hope they make a good job of it. I wonder how long it will take to tender the project.

Well Caleta.....you now this now means beach disruption again and I'm back over in 7 weeks.

It needs doing but not sure the fix will meet expectations

This is Spain - it won't be a quick process. I'd be very surprised if they start the work before Christmas.

Not again ,!!!

My last 3 visits have all been disrupted by the beach works, we are out again on January 4th hope it's not disrupted again.

Was hoping to at least see the beach flat with people enjoying it instead of 1 big building site.

We were thinking of booking the Barcelo Fuerteventura for the end of November but not sure now! Don't really want to be overlooking a building site. As it is said to be only repairs can anyone give us an idea of how much disruption there will be before we decide whether or not to book?
