Hi Was wondering if it would be cheaper to buy duty free

cigs at Gatwick or wait until we arrive in Zante. Any info would be appreciated. :)

eu country so not able to buy ciggies at Gatwick or on the plane however you can buy as many as you like in shops in your resort and take them home.uk brands are around 40 euros a carton but I take home jps which are only 34 euros a carton.

You used to be able to bring back 3200 each no problem but British customs have reduced the recommendation to only 800. But remember this is only a recommendation ,you are still legally allowed to bring in whatever you like as long as they are for personal use and you are carrying them yourself.

It used to be 4 cartons of cigs and 20 pouches of tobacco but it changed to 16 cartons and 60 pouches but due to groups flying budget airlines and buying to re sell as they were on the guidline of 16 cartons each UK customs could not confiscate them.So they reduced the guidline back to 4 cartons and 20 pouches. This is only a guidline and as long as you have bought the ciggies in an EU country and paid the tax on them in theory you can bring as many legally back to the UK as you like.UK customs are not interested in the genuine holidaymaker saving money by buying for there own use.If they did question the ammount you have then all they would do is ask how long they will last you and maybe log your passport. If you then were stopped at a port or airport and found to have a large quantity of ciggies within the time you said they would last you then they could confiscate them.Im always happy bringing 30 cartons back for myself and wife.
